Microchipping

Growing more common every year is the practice of microchipping a loved pet. This is a way for veterinarians and shelters to identify lost or stolen pets throughout the United States. A microchip is essentially an ID tag for your pet that is inserted under their skin. It is the size of a grain of rice and contains owner information, veterinarian information and the name of the pet. Alford Avenue Veterinary Hospital recommends microchipping all pets as it is almost a fail-safe way to keep track of them. Collars and ID tags can become lost or fall off easily of an animal.
